Title: The smartest water network in Australia
Presenter: Andrew Forster-Knight, Group Manager Intelligent Systems, South East Water
What you'll learn:
- Best practices on development of an end-to-end IOT system
- The application of IOT in a water utility context
Description: Over the past few years, South East Water (SEW) in Victoria have been trialling a range of different Internet of Things (IOT) technologies with the goal of creating the most advanced water and waste water network in Australia. The trials are aimed at identifying an IOT platform that will allow the connection of around one million monitoring and controlling devices across SEW’s water and wastewater network using a low power wide area network.
The trials have covered the full IOT architecture including communication protocols, cloud systems, intermediate and backend analytics, customer facing apps, as well as custom development of a range of sensor technologies that were not available on the market.
SEW have recently partnered with Yarra Valley Water and City West Water to identify a common platform and will be going to market to identify suppliers who can meet its advanced requirements.
